Versatile?

I am so honored to have been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by the (eponymous) sweetheart over at The Melodramatic Confessions of Carla Louise! (I’ve been looking for a reason to use that word for a while now and this seemed the time – but maybe not?) Thank you SO much Carla!

Versatile is a word I very much like as well, and would be so very happy to truly embody. During the year and a half that I’ve been blogging, I’ve been a little undecided on the topic of awards, but I’ve always been so grateful when I’ve been nominated, that I’ve always accepted and passed them on. And so I will continue in like fashion.

Here are the rules.

  1. Thank the person that has nominated you & include a link to their blog. ✓
  2. Nominate at least 15 blogs of your choice. (I don’t think I’ll make it to 15 but we’ll see!) ✓
  3. Link your nominees and let them know of your nomination. ✓
  4. Share seven different facts about yourself.✓

Here are my nominations:

  1. To See Time Fly
  2. mybeardandmypenguin
  3. Standard Issued Life
  4. Stephellaneous
  5. A Texan in South Africa
  6. The Falling Thoughts
  7. Wanderlust: Becoming a Traveler
  8. Travelling the World Solo
  9. A Wondering Woman’s Travels
  10. Richard Ankers
  11. and is it okay to renominate who nominated you? If not, you still need to go check out this chick’s blog – it’s quite amazing.

Here are my seven things:

  1. I’m a sucker for mysteries, crime stories, and thrillers of any sort. Books or movies. Or tv shows. Anything.
  2. I quit smoking a little over 6 months ago and I miss those Marlboro Red 100s like a sonofabitch sometimes.
  3. I’m fascinated by sleep related things like somnambulism, sleep talking, dreams, lucid dreams, all of it.
  4. I could drink eggnog year round and never get sick of it.
  5. One day I’m going to live in the Rocky Mountains somewhere.
  6. As much as I love to travel, if I had to make a choice between only ever buying books or buying airfare, I can’t say I know what I’d choose.
  7. I do not like gold jewelry or gold plated/colored jewelry. I like silver or silver plated. Some people think this is as crazy as my dislike of chocolate.

Again, thank you to Carla for the nomination, and I hope everyone checks out these marvelous blogs!

  1. Thank you so much!!! You are so, so kind!! I’m glad you got to use that word, I feel truly blessed that you used it for me!!
Also, if you haven’t you MUST read Tess Gerritsen. Start at “The Surgeon” (although its sequel, “The Apprentice” is much better).
And I just finished reading “Hide” by Lisa Gardner (among her other books …. SOOOO good). All crime/thriller related!!
And … please don’t tell anyone, I keep this on the down low; but I have a sleep condition that causes me to hallucinate. I’m awake when it happens, so it took forever to diagnose, but I have to take special medication because my hallucinations can be really bad. Once I hurt myself so badly it literally looked like someone had beaten me black and blue. The only reason it wasn’t worse was because my husband had to physically restrain me at the time (to stop me from hurting myself further – it wasn’t intentional hurting myself, it was just I was afraid of what I was seeing, so I thought I was being ‘attacked’).
I normally don’t tell people … but seeing as you were UNBELIEVABLY kind, and you like nocturnal related facts, I thought you’d be interested 🙂

    1. Thank you, I will definitely check out those books!
And that’s quite a thing to have happen in your sleep – I imagine that would be terrifying! I’m supposed to have some sleep studies done at some point upcoming because I get just about 0 rest from sleeping, and frequently start dreaming before I’m even asleep – I hope it’s nothing serious. I also walk and talk and do various other things while asleep, and frequently have horrible night terrors. I hope that your hallucinations do not continue! (Thank goodness for the marvels of modern medicine!)

      1. Wow that is so intense!! I had four sleep studies before they worked out what was wrong with me – it was pretty annoying. And I kept getting anxious, because of all the wires and stuff. I hope you sleep well during yours!! And good luck with it!! Hopefully it will give you the answers you need. I actually had one last night, which is one of the first times since being on my medication, which may mean I need stronger medication. Or, maybe, sometimes one just breaks through. I guess I’ll see in a few months!

      1. Oh, I’m sorry I should have poked around to see if I was renominating anyone – I didn’t even think of that. I really enjoy your blog though so I’ll keep you in mind for any other awards that I see come around. 🙂

  2. Congrats and great facts! Girl, I’ve been quit (smoking) for about 15 months now, and I still miss it. It does get easier to resist over time, but I don’t know when I’ll ever stop thinking about it.

I love the dreams you shared, too. Like you and your Rockies, I long for the Pacific Northwest. I say go for it!

And thank you for thinking of me and including me here. 🙂

    1. Ah, I know, but it’s so hard! I mean honestly most days I don’t even think of it, but then there are those days when it is literally ALL I think about that day. It’s still one day at a time. But going strong! Good luck keeping it up 🙂

I only just this summer made it “out west” like I’ve always wanted to. I was in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, and eastern Washington for a week and it was the most glorious experience of my life. I don’t know when it’s gonna happen but I can’t wait to get back out there!

I really love reading your blog, thanks for always being a marvelous read!

    1. Eli, I could not agree more! And what better prize than pizza? I’m always honored to be nominated for something but if I knew there was pizza in it for me I’d be trying harder 😛
