The Problem Problem

alternate title: the issue issue. Humor aside, I've been thinking about problems - not in the particular but in the general. I was having a kind of difficult day, but only because somehow I've come down with an awful flu and I can't fathom where I got it as I've been alone all week. But… Continue reading The Problem Problem

Day One

This is the first day of twenty fifteen. I welcomed in the new year flying down the highways of Pennsylvania while driving home to New Hampshire from Michigan. I was supposed to be at the bon fire party of a friend of mine in NH but that was just not meant to be. Maybe this… Continue reading Day One

Smiles

There's something to be said for smiles. In my opinion an involuntary smile is just about the greatest feeling in all the world. Thinking about it I truly can't think of a feeling I much prefer. Have you ever sat there and been staring off into space thinking of something, and either been told or… Continue reading Smiles

Video

Sometimes videos are the best way of capturing truly fantastic experiences. Sometimes they're the best way of experiencing something you'll never get to see in person. Either way, it's better to have them than not to have them. Here are a couple of clips from times gone by which I absolutely love and am very… Continue reading Video

My Sister Friend

So maybe we never really considered each other Older Sister and Younger Sister, but maybe there will always be that part of me that wants to keep her close and looked after, even as a grown up married woman. Maybe it's because she's a tough little spitfire that I want to be around to help preserve the beautiful little girl that still lives in her heart.

When End Days Come Knocking [Poem]

I wrote this poem 4 August 2012. I haven't written much poetry in the past few years, at least not like I used to many years ago, but this is one that I find I still enjoy even a few years later, which isn't at all a common occurrence with me and my writing. I… Continue reading When End Days Come Knocking [Poem]

Catching Waves

The first, and only, time I've ever been surfing was in the cold Atlantic of north-ish Ireland (not to be mistaken for Northern Ireland). It was a cold day in the summer of 2012, it was raining, it was freezing. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. To start with, I… Continue reading Catching Waves

An Open Letter

To - I'd like to say that I haven't always been this way, but that probably wouldn't be the truth. I don't know what the truth is; I don't know how I used to be. Maybe I just didn't think about it, maybe I hadn't reached a sense of self awareness yet, and maybe I… Continue reading An Open Letter

Families

I find I'm afraid of being around families, I think. Good families, bad families, close families, crazy families, distant families, loving families. Big families, small families. I've been around a lot of families and many have made me feel more than welcome in their homes and lives. I've been privy to some of the most… Continue reading Families
