There are nine of us children in my family. Seven boys, two girls, and a set of twins in that mix. As the second oldest, I was pretty much used to there always being a baby in the family. Or at least a toddler. By the time the toddlers were just "little kids" there was… Continue reading Baby No More
Happy Birthday, my sweet sister. I love you to the moon and round the tree and back. I made carrot cake cupcakes from a box tonight. Then I made cream cheese frosting from scratch. It's all in the fridge and I haven't tried it. Hopefully it's good. I guess we'll find out after mass tomorrow.… Continue reading November 19th
My father turned 62 today. We keep telling people he's turning 40 and he rolls his eyes and chuckles almost mirthlessly. Yes, this post… Continue reading She’s a Jolly Good Fellow
Today two of my sisters are 15 years old. Not only can I remember when they were born, but I have so many memories of playing with them and teaching them and taking care of them. It is hard to believe that it has been fifteen years since we welcomed these twins into our family.… Continue reading Sister Love
Today is (one of) my sister's 21st birthday. She didn't get carded at the bar, but I did. Where's the justice in the world? Gabs is one of the sweetest people you could ever encounter in this life. She's recently moved closer for the summer, so we'll be seeing her a lot more than once… Continue reading Gabrielle
So maybe we never really considered each other Older Sister and Younger Sister, but maybe there will always be that part of me that wants to keep her close and looked after, even as a grown up married woman. Maybe it's because she's a tough little spitfire that I want to be around to help preserve the beautiful little girl that still lives in her heart.
