Well, my summer is over. I mean technically the season of summer doesn’t begin until tomorrow, but all of my time has been spoken for, and I won’t get but a minute to breathe.
This week I am in Michigan doing training at Hillsdale College so that I can be on the same page as all the teachers I will be working with when I move to Florida. I am with well over a hundred other teachers from all over the country attending conference after conference and seminar after seminar. I got here yesterday evening and I’m already exhausted, but I will be here until Saturday.
Once I’m home, I’ll be busy working both of my jobs for a week, spending the long weekend of the 4th of July with my sister and friends in Long Island, and then back for another grueling week of both jobs. That puts us at about July 9th. Since I will be working more than full time that doesn’t leave me a lot of packing time before the move. So I will be quitting my jobs around that time in order to give myself almost a week to pack up all my belongings and donate the excess.
Did I mention we’re also doing a yard sale to get rid of our furniture, and that it’s not just me I’m packing up, but helping my sister, brother in law, baby, and father to move to NC as well? We’re all moving at the same time, so after the last-minute-rush packing that will surely be taking place during the week of the 9th to 14th, we will all finally be setting out. I will be helping them get their things to North Carolina, and staying to help them settle in for a week or two.
Next I’ll be moving all my other sister’s belongings into her college dorm room, and moving myself into an apartment in Florida… an apartment I have yet to find, select, or secure room mates for.
WOO – what could go wrong??
At any rate, at that point, I will have less than a week before more targeted and specific teacher conferences and training at my school in Florida. That week will be utterly overflowing with helping my sister get set up for college, buying furniture and housewares for my apartment, and spending every other waking hour accustomizing myself to my new school, classroom, and curriculum.
Do I not sound busy enough?
I don’t know if I’m gonna make it, folks! But if you don’t see me around these parts much, you sure as hell know why! But rest assured, I’ll be back, and hopefully with more tales of the shenanigans of relocation and teaching.
I’ll try to post in the mean time (a bit,) but if not, I’ll see you on the other side!
Almost to my end of the world…
