mumbling of an imbecile

Liebster

This past weekend was a long one, what with the road trip and being sicker’n a dog. But I was pleasantly surprised to come back to a wonderful notification here on my blog. Janet over at The Storyteller has graciously nominated me for the Liebster Award, which I am very grateful for, thank you!

The rules are:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you,
2. Answer the 11 questions that they set,
3. Nominate other blogs with less than 200 followers,
4. Let them know about the nomination and the questions.

The questions I was given are:

1:Who is your favourite band/artist and why?

I can’t say that I have a favorite band or musical artist. Long term the closest would have to be Bob Marley.

2:Who is your biggest inspiration?

The people who inspire me most are those who go out and pursue their aspirations unapologetically.

3:What is your favourite food?

Sushi. Thai curry. Steak burritos. Whiskey.

4:Where do you want to travel to most in the world?

ALL of the places.

5:If you were the creator of your own planet, what would it be called and what would it look like?

It would be called 42 and it would look like the biggest pile of duvets imaginable and people would be so well rested and peaceful that people would always get along. There would still be wonderful land formations and sights to see and places that would take your breath away.

6:Is The Dress black and blue or white and gold?

The dress is stupid. Stupid white and gold.

7:What do you see yourself doing in five years time?

In five years I see myself serving in the Peace Corps or working abroad in some other position of service to people who have been given fewer resources or opportunities than should be availed to them.

8:At school, were you/are you a rebel or a teachers pet?

Well, at school I’m a teacher. But I’m definitely a rebel of a teacher.

9:Do you have any allergies? If so, what are they? (Hayfever can be included)

I’m allergic to cats, which also happens to be awesome, because I just can’t stand cats.

10:What is your least favourite animal?

Butterflies. They’re pretty much the worst, followed by moths and cats…

11:What advice would you give to your younger self?

Wow. That’s a loaded question. I’d tell me not to waste my time on half of the people I gave everything to, and to remember that self preservation is a legitimate motive. I’d tell myself not to let people manipulate me into sticking around for nothing instead of travelling. I’d tell myself to be brutally honest even if it meant not having as many friends. I’d tell myself to go and never look back. Most importantly I would tell myself that I was going to make it through the tough times eventually and that I shouldn’t slack off with school or work or learning just because I didn’t think I would ever amount to anything.

I would like to nominate:

Coach Daddy – I’ve only been following him for a short time but he writes thoughtful and enjoyable posts that you fly through because it’s almost like someone is actually talking to you.

iplonker – This guy. His persistent humour and undaunted view of life are a relief to read, especially at the end of a trying day.

Sincerely, James – another one I’ve only recently been reading, and actually only started following today, but the stories of his adventures are quite something.

And because I enjoyed answering these questions so much (totally not a cop out!) I’m going to mostly reuse these questions for the people I nominate:

  1. Who is your favourite band/artist and why?
  2. Who is your biggest inspiration?
  3. What is your favourite food?
  4. Where do you want to travel to most in the world?
  5. If you were the creator of your own planet, what would it be called and what would it look like?
  6. Are you more like your mother or your father?
  7. What do you see yourself doing in five years time?
  8. At school, were you/are you a rebel or a teachers pet?
  9. Who is your favorite author and why?
  10. What is your least favourite animal?
  11. What advice would you give to your younger self?

  1. Hello. You’re back. Missed you. Well done on the nomunation. Thoroughly deserved. Many many many many thanks for mentioning iplonker. It means a lot to me. Not just the mention but moreso that you enjoy the read. I get a bit “coarse” sometimes but its nice to hear (read) that someone enjoys reading it. More Dick soon. And well done again. I hope you’ve recovered from whatever disgusting bug you had. Dickx

  3. Thanks Tessa – it’s an honor! I don’t fit the “less than 200 followers” stipulation, so I will just answer the questions on Friday! (And give you a shoutout).

    1. Some sets of the rules say 200 some say 3000 so I didn’t really worry about that with nominating blogs, but whichever way you’d like to do it is fine. 🙂
